combined GPU and CPU
All the more reason to really support GPU's in Encog. We have nice support of it now, but that will only increase in the future.
AMD is working towards combining the two.

I really can't speak to games. Not much of a gamer. But in terms of using the GPU for computing, it is really obvious to me from learning all about OpenCL that AMD is really the leader. The way that it can virtualize the CPU, even an Intel one, as just part of OpenCL, along with the GPU is great. And really, how you get the most performance out of something like Encog. nVidia just has nothing like this... at least not yet. But it looks like AMD is already off to the next level. And Intel, is not even in the game. They have yet to release OpenCL drivers for their GPU's. They are on the OpenCL group, so they will. Its just not a priority for them.
Having spent the last few months programming GPU's quite a bit, I am very pro AMD/ATI at this point. But as I can see from my poll, most people reading this have nVidia. So support for nVidia is key as well, it just won't be as fast until they up their drivers! We actually have machines of both chipsets built, that we use for testing.
