Installing the RAM

Next we will install the RAM into the
motherboard. Most motherboards will contain either two or eight SIMM
slots. Figure 4-5 shows a motherboard with four DDR2 slots.

DDR2 slots will usually be orange and
green as shown above. DDR will usually be white. The slots will be
numbered, usually one through four. This numbering will usually be
printed onto the motherboard, or your motherboard’s manual will
contain a “map” that lists the locations of each SIMM
slot. You should always fill up the SIMM slots from the lowest to the
highest.
