    The examples in this book require JDK 5.0 or higher. However installing JDK 6.0 or higher is recommended. The examples were tested on both versions. This appendix shows you how to download and install all of the software necessary to use these examples. This includes installing Java, installing Apache Ant, as well as how to use these examples with an IDE, such as Eclipse.

    This appendix uses Fedora Core 5 to demonstrate how to install on UNIX type systems. Installation may vary slightly for different versions of UNIX/Linux.
